Volunteer Positions

Safeguarding Committee – Convenor

We are seeking applications for the Convenor of the United Reformed Church Safeguarding Committee, you must be a member of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ.

You will have a current or recent working knowledge of safeguarding with children and/or adults at risk and have an understanding of contextualised safeguarding withing the faith setting.

As the convenor of the committee you will be instrumental in overseeing the implementation of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµâ€™s safeguarding polices and the strategic management of safeguarding across the denomination. You will support the Head of Safeguarding in their role as Secretary to the committee and you will chair the committee.

Church Life Fund Committee – Convenor

Are you passionate about how the Church strategically invests in its future?

We are seeking applications for the Convenor of Church Life Fund Committee, a new General Assembly committee advising the United Reformed Church Trust on the use of the restricted Church Life Fund.

As Convenor, you will chair the Committee, lead its work under delegated authority from General Assembly, and play a key role in shaping how the Church provides shared services, makes grants for lay workers in local churches, and funds new communities of discipleship and worship.

We are looking for someone with experience of chairing or leading committees, a strong understanding of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ governance and charity practice, and a commitment to good stewardship.

Business Committee Youth Representative

The Business Committee sets the agenda for the big meetings of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ (General Assembly and Assembly Executive) and works to make sure that they run smoothly. We help plan, organise, and sometimes even make decisions on behalf of General Assembly.

Faith in Action Committee Members

Do you have a heart for discipleship and mission? Do you want to make a difference in the life of the wider ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ and beyond? We are looking for new Committee members- this is your opportunity!

The new Faith in Action Committee (combining the work of the previous Children and Youth, Education and Learning and Mission Committees) are looking for new Committee members.

We are looking for people with an interest in two of our focus areas: Children and Youth/Intergenerational (2 people), Education/Lay learning (2 people). Each member will advocate for their focus area but also be a general member of the Committee promoting the work of mission and discipleship in the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ.

The Faith in Action Committee supports the United Reformed Church’s outreach in terms of evangelism and witness; public issues; community engagement; pioneering; ecumenical & interfaith relations; intergenerational worship; global & intercultural ministries; racial justice and legacies of slavery; as well as ministry among children, young people and young adults, intentionally listening to their voices; net zero advocacy; lay learning; and world justice through the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµâ€™s Commitment for Life programme. The role of the Committee is to support and guide the Faith in Action staff team in implementing the work agreed by Assembly through the Mission Strategy created to reflect the focus areas vital to the life of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ.
